Recent clinical experience with the Celsius Control System™ has shown average cool down rates of 5.0 - 6.0°C/hr, target temperature control of ±0.1°C and average rewarm rates of 2.0 - 3.0°C/hr. Rates of endovascular hypothermia induction and reversal can vary depending on physiological factors such as patient body mass.

In today's environment, a number of patients with high body mass indexes (BMI) are being treated at medical centers across the country. These patients are very difficult to cool, even under general anesthesia. The Celsius Control System is able to effectively cool, tightly maintain target temperature and actively or gradually rewarm both conscious and intubated patients with various heights, weights and BMI's.
